Ordering a flight online can often be a tricky process often with lots confusing options to choose from. That’s why we’ve produced this simple guide to help demystify the process and hopefully help you save a bit of money too.
First choose whether you want ‘Return,’ ‘Single’ or ‘Multiple Flight’ options.
Choose where you’d like to travel from and too. Don’t worry if there are multiple airports at each location, Expedia is able to find you flights from all nearby airports and find the one that best suits your needs. If you’ve chosen ‘Multiple Flight’ just add in as many other destinations as you need.
Choose your departing and returning dates. You can also set a preferred time too but this will strictly limit your options. We advise choosing ‘Anytime’ and then handpicking the best flight for your needs.
Next choose how many adults, seniors and children will be on the flights. Remember: anyone up to 18 years of age counts as child.
If you prefer one particular airline then now is the time to include that. However, this may mean you miss out on some of the best deals. You can also choose which class you’d like to travel.
Next choose if you prefer the flight to be direct or not. Direct flights can be more expensive, but you’ll typically arrive quicker.
Finally if you own want your results to include refundable flights you should tick the last box.
The next page you’ll see will contain your search results. At the very top is a quick overview that looks a little like screenshot two to your right.
The table shows the different Airlines operate flights within your criteria, and the cheapest price for a direct flight, a single stop flight, and flights with two stops or more.Below that is all the results. To make things a little easier you can quickly sort by price, duration, and departure and arrival time.
If you realise that you’ve made a mistake don’t hit the back button! Your search has been stored down the right hand side of the page so you can quickly make amendments rather than retyping the whole thing.
Once you’ve chosen you flight you can choose to take advantage of many of the other services Expedia offers including car hire, travel insurance, hotel booking and car hire. If you’re going to need any of these services while on holiday it is worth considering the options Expedia has to offer. By bundling together different parts of your holiday with Expedia you are more likely to get a good price and make some savings too.
Expedia requires anyone purchasing a flight to register with the site, this doesn’t take long at all and is for you own security. If you’re already a member just punch in your details and get back to your tickets.
Next you’ll need to include some details of the people on the flight, if it is just you then the details should already be filled in from your account, otherwise all they need is the name and phone number of the passenger.
Expedia also gives you the chance to take advantage of some great local deals. Football matches, concerts, and green fees to name just a few of the offers you can make use of.
Finally you’ll need your credit card details. Expedia currently accepts American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa for payment. Phew, you’re done! Now all is left to do is prepare for your next great holiday!
