Guide To Lanzarote

Much of Lanzarote is still plastered in the interesting-looking layers of lava (now dried!) that sprouted from the huge volcano in the 19th century. The forth largest of the Canary Islands, it is still only 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, so you can quite easily see most of the island without too much hassle.

When To Go

The island is closer to Africa than Europe, so enjoys a much drier environment than many people expect. This dry climate is why much of the volcanic residue appears unchanged. Average annual rainfall is only five inches too, making Lanzarote a pleasant place to visit all year round. In terms of popularity. June to September are the most popular times, but April to May usually offer similar weather too, so may be worth exploiting.
