July to September offers the best weather. Summer days in Alicante have roughly 12 hours sun, so it’s a perfect place to spend relaxing at the beach. Although temperatures can get a little sticky in summer, the coastal proximity ensures a sea breeze most of the time. Another handy thing to remember is that Spain’s warmest waters are here too – averaging 27C in August.

Alicant’s major spectacle, the views from Castillo are tremendous. Set on the bare rock behind the town beach, sightseers can ascend to its peak by either lift or road.
Alicante’s main shopping promenade, the Explanada snakes right around the yachting harbour. Impressively clean, it and features some beautiful mosaics and marble walkways, and is lined with palm trees that give it a luxurious atmosphere.
Just a short boat ride away from Alicante, Tabarca boasts near-perfect beaches, great views and a charmingly picturesque town. Boats leave from Puerto on the Explanada d'Espanya daily in the summer (weather permitting).
This, Alicante’s oldest building, contains some fascinating modern art by the likes of Dalí, Picasso, Tàpies, Cocteau, Miró, Braque, Calder and Vasarély. Originally constructed in the 17th century, the building opened as a museum in 1977.
Part of the Old Quarter, and within close proximity to Castillo de Santa Bárbara is Barrio de Santa Cruz. The spirit of old Alicante can be found right here, along with superb views down to the harbour.
